There are as many types of paella as there are cooks in Spain. Virtually every family in Spain has their very own special recipe. The most popular paellas are meat, most commonly chicken based, seafood and vegetarian; all of which are delicious. However, there are variations regionally. My family is very proud of their paella and guard its heritage seriously.

Paella is a traditional rice based dish that originated near Valencia on the east coast of Spain. It is made in large shallow pans called paellera. It can be made with a wide range of ingredients including different types of meat, seafood or vegetables. The most common types of paella are made using chicken or a mix of seafood and vegetables. Ingredients can be combined very easily to suit all tastes. Paprika and saffron are just two of the key spices used to give you a deliciously smokey taste of Spain.

Typically 15 people for a single paella is the minimum. We are able to cater easily for 100 or 200 in a single sitting. We have yet to reach an upper limit. However, if you are hosting a party for 60 people for example, which includes a few vegetarians or guests with special dietary requirements, we will cater especially for all your guests needs as part of our normal service; just give us a call on 0402 982 661 to discuss your requirements.

Elenas Paella is prepared and cooked the way my abuela (grandmother) taught me when I was growing up in Madrid. If you are looking for a traditional Spanish experience, then Elenas Paella is what you have been looking for. Paella is traditionally a communal dish so it is ideal for any large gathering because it is simple, tasty and easy to serve. A feature of any good paella is the spectacle; from watching it being cooked, and then finally getting to taste it and tantalise the senses.
